GIS/Library Resources
Jen Doty
City & Regional Planning Librarian
As a member of the Davis Library Research & Instructional Services team, I help library users with their research needs. I provide specialized research assistance to DCRP faculty, students, alumni, and affiliated researchers. I also assist people with Geographic Information Systems (GIS)—I can help you locate print or electronic GIS resources, and acquire, format and project spatial data. I managed the former Chapin Planning Library in New East from August 2008 to July 2010.
Key Resources for Planners at UNC-Chapel Hill:
GIS Services at Davis Library—get more information about the services offered in Davis, find guides to locating spatial data on campus and on the web, and check out our FAQ featuring short videos of common tasks to get help using GIS.
Online GIS Training—improve your GIS skills with a self-paced online course from the ESRI Virtual Campus. See the list of courses available for UNC-CH affiliates (current faculty, staff and students).
Library E-Resources—access article databases (such as EconLit, GEOBASE, and PAIS), specialized planning collections (ICUD, NTL, and ULI Development Case Studies), and guides to conducting research in all areas of planning (land use, transportation, economic development, etc.).
Master’s Papers in City & Regional Planning—search our online collection of master’s papers from past students of DCRP. Browse by year graduated, faculty advisor name, or use the keyword search to find all papers on a particular topic.
