Plan for All Brown Bag – MDC

March 2, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Event flyer - Jenna Bryant, MDC

The Plan for All Brown Bag speaker committee presents Jenna Bryant, MDC program director.  Bryant will talk about her youth development work in Durham.

North Carolina’s Economic Imperative: A look at how far the South has come toward building a region that offers economic opportunity to all its citizens, how far it still has to go. This presentation will look at patterns of economic mobility and educational progress in North Carolina by demography and geography to determine who is being successfully prepared for entry and success in the most economically rewarding sectors of the state’s economy. The analysis focuses on the education-to-career continuum, a critical piece of an infrastructure of opportunity—the myriad systems that must be improved and aligned to prepare ever larger numbers of North Carolinians for family-sustaining work and a better shot at economic wellbeing.

Learn more about MDC
All Southerners deserve the opportunity to thrive. MDC partners with foundations, nonprofits and leaders from government, business, education and communities to catalyze systemic change that allows more people – particularly our most vulnerable neighbors – to thrive.  We offer research and analysis, community change and advisory services that can help communities create an “infrastructure of opportunity“– the aligned systems and supports that can boost everyone, particularly those who’ve been left behind, to higher rungs on the economic ladder.  At the heart of our work is an abiding commitment to the South, deep knowledge and 50 years of experience designing, testing and scaling strategies that work to bring equity and opportunity to the people of our region.
