5th Annual UNC Climate Change and Resilience Symposium
April 20, 2018 @ 12:15 pm - 5:00 pm
Please join us on Friday, April 20, 2018 at the 5th Annual UNC Climate Change and Resilience Symposium. We are excited to announce our keynote speaker, Dr. Susan White, Executive Director of North Carolina Sea Grant, North Carolina Space Grant, and UNC Water Resources Research Institute. Our two expert panels, “Climate Change Communication” and “Rural Disaster Recovery and Hurricane Matthew,” will bring together leading practitioners, researchers, local government representatives, and community organizers for rich discussion about climate change, hazards, and resilience in 2018.
The Symposium will also include a Student Research Poster Session to showcase climate change and resilience-related research. Students (grad/undergrad), postdocs, faculty, and staff members are encouraged to submit a poster. Cash prizes of $400, $200, and $200 will be awarded to the top student (grad/undergrad) posters. To participate, please register your poster through this form by Friday, April 13, 2018. For questions about the poster session, please contact Dr. Diego Riveros-Iregui at diegori@unc.edu.
Free food will be provided.
A happy hour at West End Wine Bar on Franklin Street will follow from 5:30-7:00 pm. West End will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Carolina Disaster Relief Fund, which supports recovery from Hurricane Matthew.
The Climate Change and Resilience Symposium is a collaboration between Carolina Hazards and Resilience Planners (CHRP) and Carolina Climate Change Scientists, with the support of the Institute for the Environment, Carolina Seminars Program, and the Coastal Resilience Center of Excellence.
