Dr. Harvey Goldstein is Professor Emeritus of City and Regional Planning, UNC-CH and Professor Emeritus at MODUL University-Vienna. Dr. Goldstein`s major area of specialization has been urban and regional economic development. His research has recently focused on the role and effectiveness of institutions of higher education for the stimulation of economic and social development and on entrepreneurial ecosystems. His scholarly publications have appeared in such journals as Regional Studies, Environment and Planning, Journal of Technology Transfer, Economic Development Quarterly, Journal of the American Planning Association, Journal of Planning Education and Research, Annals of Regional Science, and Monthly Labor Review. Dr. Goldstein has also done consulting and applied research for the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, USAID, the United Nations Development Programme, the City of Moscow, the North Carolina Department of Commerce, and numerous other state government and contract research organizations. He has served on the Austrian-American Educational (Fulbright) Commission since 2010. Professor Goldstein received his bachelor`s degree from Columbia University, and masters and doctoral degrees from the University of Pennsylvania in the fields of regional science and planning.
