QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
• 5+ years of experience working in the fields of Urban Design and/or City Planning
• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in urban design and/or planning or related field is preferred
• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• Experience in project management, community engagement, placemaking, visual presentation and graphic design
• Authentic commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Team-oriented, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively toward common purpose
• A strong ability to think strategically while being extremely responsive
• Familiarity with the public policy process

Compensation and Benefits:

Bike Durham is a local non-profit sustainable transportation advocacy organization. Our vision is a transportation system that is safe, affordable, and sustainable for everyone, regardless of who they are or where they live. Through events, advocacy, and education, we empower everyone to walk, bike, or ride transit more often.

Bike Durham is seeking to contract with an individual to coordinate community outreach activities for a safe streets project in the Old West Durham and Watts Hospital-Hillandale neighborhoods this spring. We project that the work will be an estimated 250-300 hours (20-25 hours per week), beginning as soon as possible and completed by May 31.

The planned activities include:
Initial neighborhood meetings – large and small forums to hear from one another, identifying and documenting areas of concern and opportunity. This will include activities specifically directed at engaging youth, as well as adults.
Neighbor Walk Audits of the identified areas of concern and opportunity
Neighborhood Planning meetings – Plan for and select application of tactical urbanism or possible Shared Street Implementations to calm traffic in the neighborhoods

This position(s) will work closely with the Bike Durham executive director, volunteer leaders of the Old West Durham and Watts Hospital-Hillandale Neighborhood Associations, and City of Durham Transportation department staff.

Compensation, Hours, and Term

We estimate that delivering on our scope of services will require an average of 20-25 hours per week for 10-12 weeks. The daily schedule will be flexible and set by the independent contractor(s) considering the needs of the Old West Durham and Watts Hospital-Hillandale neighborhoods. Our funding comes through a grant with the Duke Office of Community Affairs. The term of this contract will run through May 31, 2022.

Position Summary:
Reporting to the curriculum and training team lead, the Instructional

Virginia & North Carolina Greenway Coordinator
East Coast Greenway Alliance

The Virginia & North Carolina Greenway Coordinator is a full-time position that carries region-wide responsibilities for all aspects of greenway development, advocacy, and State Committee/volunteer engagement. This position helps communities along the route in VA & NC plan, build, and maintain sections of the East Coast Greenway. The VA & NC Coordinator works under the direction of the Deputy Director in coordination with other ECGA staff.

The right candidate will grow, support and empower our volunteers in the region and must be able to travel frequently within the region for meetings and events. In addition to meetings and community events, work will entail data collection, field investigations, and performing technical and GIS data analysis.
