We are searching for a leader capable of being the driving force behind the implementation of multiple financial projects and initiatives. Through effective relationship-building and collaboration while leaning on a foundation of financial management and accounting methodologies, the Fiscal Analyst will provide financial and accounting administration for the MPO. In the next year, as our organization transitions to a new Enterprise Resource System, the fiscal analyst may participate in multiple groups to ensure a successful transition.

This position performs complex, responsible professional analytical, administrative, and technical work in support of financial, grant administration, and business operations activities for the Capital Area MPO and requires a high level of independent judgement and analysis to address operational needs.

Work is performed under the general supervision of the CAMPO Finance Director/Operations Manager.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $71,531 – $81,120

Typical Tasks
Your day-to-day work may include, but is not limited to:

  • Performing analysis, reviews and/or audits financial information to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable policies and requirements;
  • Monitoring and administering fiscal accounting procedures, protocols, transactions, and/or system interfaces; identifies discrepancies, variances and financial irregularities; performs reconciliations; analyzing issues and recommending problem resolution with various parties/stakeholders;
  • Serving as a liaison to provide internal/external customer support; performing research and review of financial accounts, budget transfers, contract documentation, grant funding, payments/receipts, billing, requisitions, asset tracking and lease information, and/or other fiscal processes;
  • Performing analysis of financial data; develops, updates, and maintains financial reports, datasets, statements, journal entries, schedules, agendas, projections, and/or presentations;
  • Reviewing financial policies and practices; provides recommendations; assists in updating, implementation, and compliance with policies and protocols;
  • Acting as MPO procurement coordinator and liaison;
  • Providing professional and technical support of assigned programs and projects;
  • Assisting with development, implementation, and maintenance of budgets;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to work under pressure on several projects simultaneously and within time constraints; ability to analyze a problem and make independent judgments without close supervision; ability to analyze financial information and cash balances; ability to perform independent research and development recommendations; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to supervise other personnel; ability to deal effectively with the general public; ability to adapt to changing technology.

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a graduation from a four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, public administration or a related field and a minimum of two years experience in financial management, operations, program management, and/or administrative oversight.

Preference will be given to candidates with a Master’s Degree in finance, accounting, public administration or a related field.

Working knowledge in the Oracle system is a plus.

CONDITIONS OF CAMPO EMPLOYMENT:
Requires drug testing and background check (which may include criminal check, education verification and credit history review) prior to employment.

Requires a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The work in this class is generally sedentary. An employee must be able to talk and hear in order to communicate with staff and others. Visual acuity is necessary in order to read and write handwritten and typewritten materials and view a computer terminal. Work also requires the employee to have the physical agility to move about a typical office environment.
