Description

- Digitizes, edits, reviews, maintains and reproduces maps on GIS.
- Prepares overlays and special maps such as Powell Bill maps and drawings from instructions.
- Lays out, draws, inks, traces, checks, and keeps up-to-date subdivision, water, sewer, electric, street, City owned property and other maps and drawings.
- Researches property and ownership records; gathers data using GPS equipment.
- Reduces, transfers, or enlarges drawings and maps.
- Collects data relating to electric utility assets.
- Updates and maintains departmental GIS database; reconciles database; merges new records; deletes old records.
- Prepares charts and graphs of daily and monthly readings; creates maps for use by the Utilities Department or Emergency Department.
- Edits and maintains electric, water and sewer GIS.
- Acts as City addressing coordinator; assigns new addresses.
- Acquires data from various sources for use by Police Department in proactive law enforcement activities and crime analysis.
- Uses ESRI, AutoCAD and GIS equipment for creating maps and related data.
- Provides information to public and other City offices, relating to construction and engineering projects, land and property records and maps.
- Performs related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of computer mapping to include digitizing and plotting; general knowledge of engineering maps, records, techniques and methodology of engineering drafting; some knowledge of trigonometry as applied to the computation of angles, areas, distances and traverses; ability to make complex arithmetic calculations; ability to understand and work from oral and written instructions, field notes and sketches; skill in use of conventional drafting equipment and in the use of drafting instruments; ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
