Planner I

Performs professional work participating in a variety of assignments in the Planning Department.  Work involves the application of professional knowledge and skills in various municipal planning situations. Employee prepares or assists in the preparation of reports and plans affording considerable opportunity for independent judgment in laying out work details and making technical determinations.  Work is performed under the general supervision of the Planning Manager.

Examples of Duties

• Reviews and coordinates the review of final plats by all Departments
• Reviews site plans, preliminary subdivisions, and construction plans for small-scale developments
• Reviews and oversees the review and coordination by other Departments of special event application permits and issues decision letters
• Assists in the review of plot plans
• Processes annexation petitions
• Reviews minor modifications to approved site plans and construction drawings
• Reviews building permit applications for compliance with the use and other regulations in the UDO
• Performs site compliance inspections
• Prepares staff reports for the Planning and Zoning Board and Town Council and makes presentations to the same
• Researches, investigates and prepares written reports on planning policies and issues
