Senior Planner (2 positions)

The Department of Planning and Sustainability currently has an opportunity to add two new Senior Planners to our team. While our staff of eight professional planners work collaboratively across disciplines on planning as well as policy and program development and implementation, one of the Senior Planner positions will primarily focus on sustainability, energy and climate change, and the other will focus on affordable housing and community development.

Tompkins County, NY is centrally located in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region of Upstate New York which has a population of over 100,000 residents. Home to Cornell University and Ithaca College, Ithaca sits at the southern tip of Cayuga Lake, in an area surrounded by dramatic gorges and waterfalls. While our staff of eight professional planners work collaboratively across disciplines on planning as well as policy and program development and implementation, one of the Senior Planner positions will primarily focus on sustainability, energy and climate change, and the other will focus on affordable housing and community development.

We are looking for qualified and experienced people who can oversee and administer complex projects and programs. The ideal candidates will have expertise in these focus areas, however, we are primarily looking for excellent thinkers and implementers and welcome applications from people with expertise in other areas of our work program, including land use, land and water conservation, and transportation.
