    Obama visits UNC, presidential motorcade passes New East

    President Barack Obama’s visit to Chapel Hill on Tuesday caused road closings and detours throughout the day on UNC’s campus.

    The president first gave a speech at Carmichael Arena and afterward passed DCRP’s New East building on his way to tape a segment for the “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” show at Memorial Hall.

    In his first official White House visit to Carolina, President Barack Obama focused on college affordability and the plight of students who rely on federal loans to finance their education.
