The Town of Garner (pop. 33,500 and growing), seeks a self-motivated individual experienced in urban design review to lead a team of three (3) planners charged with developing, coordinating and implementing the Town’s development review program and related activities.

The successful candidate will:
1) set a high bar for teamwork within the group,
2) encourage and support professional and technical development of staff,
3) insist on excellence and character building in site and subdivision plans, and
4) skillfully navigate the upcoming transition from paper to electronic plan review.

The Development Review Manager position is a revised and re-tooled role within the Garner Planning Department, acting as a division/section manager reporting to the Planning Director.

Bachelor’s degree and 5 years public sector planning experience required. AICP, PLA or similar certification/license required.
