Economic Development Manager

The City of Greensboro’s Planning Department is looking for a manager of the Economic Development Division. This position will oversee the economic development program, with the goal of encouraging investment in Greensboro, facilitating expansion of employment opportunities, and assisting the city’s businesses of all sizes and ages in their efforts to grow and succeed.

As a Division Manager, you will be responsible for the oversight of the economic development programs for the City of Greensboro; this includes having effective relationships with our economic development partners, ensuring program compliance and reporting from program applicants, coordinating with legal and finance departments impacts, managing the program budgets and supervising division staff.

• Meet with industry representative and / or their consultants who are interested in locating or expanding in Greensboro
• Oversee the evaluation of incentive requests from industries interested in locating in Greensboro
• Meet with incentive program applicants to explain incentive opportunities and requirements
• Make presentations to City Council on incentive requests, economic development data and other information as needed
• Periodically evaluate the effectiveness of the City’s incentive programs, develop recommendations for improvements or needed new programs.
• Work with other City departments to obtain requested information for applicants, mutually develop program improvements etc.
• Oversee program reporting compliance of program recipients
• Work with other Planning Department staff on area and corridor plan development
• Work with state economic development officials on programs, funding and compliance for state programs
