The NC Center for Health and Wellness at UNC Asheville is hiring a Health Policy Project Manager. This position is funded by an 18-month grant from the Dogwood Health Trust. The purpose of this project is to establish a health policy research center/institute at UNC Asheville and to support research, education, and cross sector conversations to inform health policy (health care and public health related policy) decision-making in NC.

The Health Policy Project Manager will be responsible for managing grant deliverables, working collaboratively with the two health policy experts to support grant deliverables, conduct research to inform NC health policy, convening meetings, documenting progress and disseminating information, managing subcontracts, preparing reports, and coordinating communication among faculty/staff, health care leaders, community leaders, student stakeholders, and current and future funders.

This position will work with a variety of on campus and external constituents in both the local and state community to ensure the success of the Health Policy project/program. The employee in this position is expected to work collaboratively as a member of the NC Center for Health and Wellness team. The position will be based in the Asheville area, with the option to work remotely to start, and with occasional travel to other areas of North Carolina (especially rural counties and the triangle) expected.

Salary range is $45,000-$50,000

Required Education/Experience/Skills

  • A Master’s Degree in public health, health administration, public policy, health or behavioral economics or similar field.
  • May consider a Bachelor’s degree in public health, political science or sociology with equivalent experience in health policy, health administration or public health.
  • All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.

    Preferred Education/Experience/Skills

  • Three to five years of experience in health care, health research, health promotion, or public health settings.
  • Highly organized with strong verbal and excellent written communication skills.
  • Experience in leadership or project management, preferably in a health setting.
  • Experience with conducting or supporting research in public health, health policy or health care.
  • Experience in grant writing and/or fund development.
