Planner

The Planner position is a dynamic position working in both short and long-range planning. The Planner will work independently or in coordination with the Senior Planner in the management of major development related projects. The Planner will be instrumental in assisting in the implementation of the Indian Trail Comprehensive Plan and assisting with major updates to the Unified Development Ordinance and Zoning Map. The Planner will also review conventional land development projects such as site plans, subdivisions and similar projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for managing independently or in coordination with the Senior Planner on major projects such as Conditional Rezoning and Special Use Permits (SUP)

Assist in the implementation of the Town of Indian Trail Comprehensive Plan

Review and analyze site plans, subdivision plats and other plan submittals

Review and interpret the Indian Trail Unified Development Ordinance and apply regulations to development proposals

Coordinate projects with other Town departments, outside agencies, citizens and design professionals

Prepare staff reports, ordinances and other written communication pieces

Make presentations at public hearings and community meetings, as needed

Serve as department GIS mapping coordinator

Manage digital permitting system
