Planner I/Compliance Inspector

Powhatan County, Virginia is looking for an innovative and motivated planning professional to join our team as Planner I. This position will work on a variety of projects, with a focus on code compliance and permit review.

The minimum requirements for this position are a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or a related field and at least one year working as a professional planner.

Powhatan County’s Department of Community Development has been recognized by the Virginia Association of Zoning Officials (VAZO) with its Outstanding Organization Award for two consecutive years.

Powhatan County is a community of approximately 29,000 residents and 272 square miles, located in central Virginia’s greater Richmond region, between the Appomattox and James rivers. While maintaining a charming rural atmosphere, Powhatan County’s central location allows easy access to major commercial, cultural, recreational, educational, and medical centers.
