Planner II

The Mid-East Commission (Commission) Planning, Economic Development, and Community Services Department, located in Washington, North Carolina serving a five-county region, is
seeking a qualified individual with education and experience in the areas of Land Use Planning and Zoning Administration to fill the position of Planner II.

The Planner II position provides professional planning work for the Commission. Work primarily includes planning and zoning functions, technical assistance, enforcement, ordinance updating for compliance, land use planning, digital mapping using ArcGIS software, water quality, and related services for local governments.

Work requires thorough knowledge of the planning field and is
characterized by independent judgment and initiative in the performance of duties. Work is performed primarily in an indoors environment. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Director of Planning, Economic Development and Community Services with work performance evaluated through individual meetings, direct observation, reports, project progression, and feedback from customers.
