Senior Planner/GIS Analyst

The Town of Ashland, Virginia is seeking to fill the position of Senior Planner/GIS Analyst. Responsibilities include coordinating the development review process; the preparation, analysis and presentation of cases to the Planning Commission; conducting special planning studies as needed, including updating the Comprehensive Plan; and coordinating computerized land record management systems. The successful candidate must be multi-task oriented, effectively meet project deadlines, and work in a team atmosphere. A demonstrated ability to read and interpret codes, site plans and subdivision plats is required. The position requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in planning or related field and 4 years of progressively responsible experience in development review and GIS. Salary range for the position is $57,088 to $85,632 with the starting salary depending on qualifications. There is the potential to be hired at a lower grade with less experience.
