Survey/GIS Field Technician

Orange Water and Sewer Authority (OWASA), a progressive water utility providing water, wastewater and reclaimed water services to the Towns of Chapel Hill, Carrboro and to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, seeks qualified candidates to fill a Part-time Temporary Engineering Technician Assistant. This assignment would require 24 hours per week for approximately 40 weeks.

Position will assist in collecting locational and attribute data for GIS mapping system updates. This assignment will also include office work performing data entry into GIS along with other related projects. Desired traits include strong communication skills, attention to detail, highly accurate, organized, and self-motivated. Previous experience using Windows, Microsoft Office and ARC GIS are required. Requires the ability to read deeds of easements, plats, and electronic maps. Background in related field such as engineering or surveying are preferred. Ability to work outside occasionally while carrying survey equipment. Position requires moderate walking and standing for extended periods of time. Position is subject to outside weather conditions.
