Abstract 1: To further evaluate the ongoing changes in travel behavior due to COVID-19, RSG has conducted the COVID-19 Transportation Insights Panel (TIP) – a national, longitudinal survey using a representative panel of U.S. adults – approximately every six weeks since May 2020. The TIP surveys collect demographic, work, school, travel behavior, health, and attitudinal data to understand which peoples and households are most affected, how travel purposes are changing, and expectations for travel resumption in the future. This presentation will include an overview of the survey methodology and key transportation findings.

Abstract 2: The Carolina Tracker dashboard visualizes and explores the economic, transportation, social, and environmental impacts of COVID-19 on communities throughout North Carolina. While many such dashboards exist, the Carolina Tracker is focused on bringing together a broad range of data sources to create a timely and useful resource of information for decision-makers throughout the state, from local nonprofits to the state’s department of commerce. In addition to visualizing the broad trends of COVID-19’s impact on employment, housing, travel, and other topics, the Carolina Tracker website also includes a data journalism section that explores the nuances, assumptions, and implications of these patterns.
