Aviation Planner

Under the direction of the Chief, Office of Aviation Planning, Division of Aeronautics (Division), this position is responsible for the providing of aviation planning functions that focus on duties related to land use in the vicinity of airports and the advancement of aviation as an element of multi-modal transportation in California. A key element is the review, assessment and interpretation of Airport Land Use Compatibility Plans and providing technical assistance to Airport Land Use Commissions (ALUC), land use planning professionals and decision making agencies regard airport area land use. The incumbent furthers the implementation of Caltrans mission, goals, values and imperatives. The incumbent uses technical tools and analytical methods. The incumbent also participates in the use and periodic update of the California Aviation System Plan, the California Airport Land Use Planning Handbook and pertinent legislation. Periodic travel is required.
