Graduate Housing Fellowship

For the 2020-2021 program year (August 31, 2020 – May 28, 2021), CHCI is offering a selection of Graduate Fellowships to exceptional Latinos with advanced academic degrees from across the country. Graduate Fellows gain unparalleled exposure and professional experience in a public policy focus area —K-12 education, energy, health, nutritional health or housing—and how to utilize their expertise to make a difference through a paid nine-month Fellowship in Washington, D.C. Graduate Fellows strengthen their policy skills through hands-on work in an office of their choice in Congress for the full nine months or opting to work the second half of the program in a Federal agency, national nonprofit or think tank (as noted below, Energy and Bristol-Myers Squibb Health Graduate Fellows work in their sponsor’s office for the second half). Fellows also participate in CHCI’s exceptional leadership development training program, write a policy brief, and develop/execute a Capitol Hill policy briefing related to their Fellowship policy focus area. This experience can help Fellows along any number of career paths, whether in the public, for profit or nonprofit sectors. Gaining deeper insight into how policy and legislation are formed, and institutions that shape commercial realities and strive to solve societal challenges, offer incredible opportunities for Fellows to stand out in today’s job market and accelerate their rise as leaders.
