Description
A specialist position in our Fair Housing unit helping lead on equity issues in housing policy within HCD and externally. Specifically focused on tribal outreach/technical assistance and improving tribal access in HCD programs.

HCD is headquartered in Natomas just North of Downtown Sacramento in a state of the art ‘green’ building directly off Interstate 5 (I-5). Featuring free parking and fully equipped pay-per-charge electric vehicle charging stations, HCD is situated close to many dining and shopping choices and is a short drive to Downtown, the State Capitol, the Golden 1 Center and Old Sacramento. HCD is family friendly and situated in close proximity to the Napa Valley, San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, and other desirable destinations.
Desirable Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge in local planning and housing development, housing legislation, or housing data and research
- Experience conducting policy analysis, including research and using complex data • Experience working with a variety of stakeholders
- Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
- Strong writing skills with experience preparing materials such as policy briefs, papers, technical assistance documents
- Project management experience as a project lead
- Understanding tribal funding sources, including but not limited to Indian Housing Block Grant (IHBG) and HCD programs
- Familiarity with the sovereignty of tribal governments, leasing and permitting processes in 25 CFR 162 on federal trust lands, and how to build housing projects on tribe lands
