Planning Intern

The Town of Clayton is currently hiring for a Planning Intern this summer. This is a PAID internship position at $15/Hour. The Town of Clayton has been the fastest-growing municipality in Johnston County, which was the fastest-growing county in North Carolina from 2010 to 2020, with the Town adding 4-5 new residents every day. The Planning Department is currently working on 2 small area plans, a new Unified Development Ordinance, and is preparing for a new online permitting and planning software launch in early 2024.

As an intern with the Planning Department, you will work on some process improvement projects, help with preparation of applications and application workflows for our new online permitting and planning software, as well as have the opportunity to work on various long-range planning projects and learn about plan review.
