Research Analyst

General Overview
SUMC is looking for a Research Analyst to join the Los Angeles Office. SUMC is expanding its Los Angeles Office to serve a growing set of programs that include program evaluation and learning components. These capacity-building programs disseminate knowledge and resources throughout a rapidly-growing mobility ecosystem of public agencies, community-based organizations, Native American tribes, and private sector mobility providers.

Position Overview
The Research Analyst will work closely with the Strategic Lead for California and Western Programs and SUMC’s California and Chicago-based teams to support the organization’s growing capacity-building programs. The position presents a rare opportunity to work across the public and private sectors to shape equity indicators, metrics, and processes to impact the future of mobility around climate and social equity goals.

SUMC staff are responsible for a wide range of duties in a thoughtful, creative, fast-paced atmosphere. Depending on the needs at the time, the Research Analyst will primarily be responsible for coordinating program evaluation efforts including developing processes to facilitate data collection management tasks, analyzing data, and delivering technical assistance around data collection.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as program evaluation, economics, public policy, city planning, economic geography, or business administration AND at least four years’ experience in related positions such as program evaluator, researcher, data analyst, transportation and land use planning or mobility industry operations, or policy/public affairs

OR

Master’s degree in a related field such as program evaluation, economics, public policy, city planning, economic geography, or business administration AND at least two years’ experience in related positions such as program evaluator, researcher, data analyst, transportation and land use planning or mobility industry operations, or policy/public affairs

Position Details

• Full-time salaried position with benefits.
• Salary range depending on qualifications: $58,000 – $68,000
• Based in LA office (currently remote; hybrid remote/in-office model to come)
