Summer Fellows Program

The Montgomery County Council’s ten-week Summer Fellows Program offers graduate students between their first and second year of study an unparalleled opportunity to work in local government directly with elected officials, senior management and businesses. The Summer Fellows Program provides students studying public policy, planning, law, or related subjects with the opportunity to work in one of the most progressive local governments in the United States, participate in Council meetings, grow their networks and explore career paths. Summer Fellows are placed in one of 4 different agencies/organizations with the opportunity to do a significant research project while gaining real world experience in multiple fields of government. Weekly programming brings the students together for field trips throughout the County and a variety of after work social events. The program includes a generous stipend, and assistance in meeting housing needs.
