Transportation Planner

As a member of the Engineering and development review team, this position will be responsible for a wide range of transportation, development, and land use planning assignments. The successful candidate will administer and work on periodic updates to the Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP), as well as other planning documents; assist in short and long range plans based on future land use plan; review site plans, preliminary subdivisions, and construction plans for compliance with applicable transportation-related plans and ordinances; coordinate and review Transportation Impact Analysis reports for proposed development projects; provide assistance to citizens, developers, and public officials regarding transportation-related matters; participate in cross-jurisdictional transportation-related meetings (i.e. CAMPO, Wake Transit, NCDOT); perform other tasks as assigned. Requires knowledge of transportation planning, coordination of data collection and other research topics such as traffic counts, regional model data, coordination with neighboring jurisdictions on transportation planning issues, and concepts, principles, techniques and legal aspects of municipal planning. Position also requires ability to read and interpret ordinances, specifications, and plans; and strong organizational and communications skills. Requires Bachelor’s degree in city and regional planning, transportation planning, civil engineering, landscape architecture, public administration, geography, or a related field, and 1-2 years of experience in transportation planning. The hiring salary range is $53,334-61,00 DOQ with an annual pay for performance salary review, a very competitive benefits package, and a 5% Town contribution to 401(K).
