Transportation Planner/Staff Analyst Series (Op. Planning)

The Incumbent will work as a member of the planning team responsible for advancing the redesign of NYC’s bus network and completing each borough level study. The Bus Network Redesign is a significant piece of the Reimagining the Bus Network section of Fast Forward: The Plan to Modernize New York City Transit.

Bus Network Redesign team at Metropolitan Transportation Authority New York City Transit (MTA NYCT)

• performing in-depth data collection and analysis
• providing technical assistance in the planning and development of the new bus network
• developing maps, design principles, and other graphic representation of complex data and concepts
• supporting public engagement efforts throughout each borough study, including on street engagement and public meetings
• representing Bus Service Planning and NYCT at intra-agency coordination and external coordination with city agencies, elected officials, and other stakeholders.

The incumbent should be proficient working with a variety of data sources and formats, including large data sets and operational data. The candidate will coordinate with other NYCT departments and divisions, and may be required to work with data analysts, planners, marketing staff, and community relations staff.
