Senior Regional Planner

Upper Coastal Plain Council of Governments is seeking two (2) Senior Regional Planners to join our dynamic Planning and Development Services (PDS) team. Serving as the lead regional organization for a five county region, PDS works in partnership with federal, state and local member governments, allied organizations, and community leadership. With diverse sources of funding we comprehensively identify and address local and regional priorities in the interrelated areas of community and economic development, infrastructure, workforce, and more. Efforts are focused on a variety of topics like affordable housing, land use, rural broadband, local food access, small town revitalization, clean energy, transportation, environmental sustainability, and more. Many of our projects have received national recognition and we are successfully growing. We seek additional team players with excellent planning, facilitation, communication, technical and project creation/implementation skills.
One of the current open positions will have a strong initial focus on providing local governments assistance in the utilization and leveraging of over $110 million in federally appropriated ARP funds as they relate to community revitalization, disaster preparedness and resilience. The second position will focus more broadly on the implementation of current and developing initiatives under Goal 3: Create Revitalized, Healthy & Resilient Communities of the region’s 5-year Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy. .
The Senior Regional Planner position is classified at Grade 29 with a salary range from $52,971 to $79,452 and has an excellent benefits package including medical insurances, state managed pension, 401K contributions and more. Offices are located in affordable, growing, and conveniently located Wilson, NC. PDS has a remote and at home work culture incorporated.
