The intern will support CMAP’s LTA program and/orassist with data development projects. CMAP’s LTA program provides assistance to communities across the Chicago metropolitan region to develop comprehensive plans, zoning updates, and subarea plans related to natural resources, economic development, housing, and transportation. Data development projects support regional planning and socioeconomic forecasting activities at CMAP. Whether the intern supports planning projects, regional data development, or a combination of these two programs will depend on interest and expertise.The intern with a planning focuswill be expected to support the projectsby performing geographic information system (GIS)analysis, researching and writing about assigned topics, and participating in community engagement efforts. Project assignments will be determined based on program needs and the intern’s interests and skill sets. However; the intern should have a strong understanding of transportation and land use planning topics. The intern with a spatial data focuswill be expected to have knowledge of general GIS concepts and functions, as well as familiarity with ArcMap and experience in digitizing and editing vector datasets. Knowledge of Python scripting or georeferencing raster imagery is helpful.

Centralina Council of Governments (CCOG) seeks an energetic, self-directed individual to assist in the coordination of land use, transportation, public engagement, and economic development projects related to outcomes from the CONNECT Our Future Regional Growth Framework. Projects will primarily focus on transportation choice, including transit, freight, and emerging transportation technologies, as well as the creation of land use plans, the development and update of local zoning and subdivision ordinances, and assisting local governments with a variety of planning related projects.

The Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation Department is looking for a GIS intern to conduct Phase I of an inventory and condition assessment of all parks, greenways, and recreation facilities.

The intern will assist the Parks and Recreation Department Staff to collect, document, and receive data to
achieve the following:
• Location name with GPS coordinates (longitude and latitude) for all amenities/facilities or buildings
• Type of amenity, dimensions of facility and square footage of buildings
• Document through research of records and interviews with Parks and Recreation Staff
o Date of facility construction (month and year)
o Repairs and renovations made over the lifetime of the facility
o Cost of construction and renovations
o Known problems
• Digital photographs that identify the conditions for each item included in the inventory
• Historic designation

Responsible for providing planning and zoning related customer service to design professionals, contractors, and citizens. Planning Technician will be actively involved in the review of residential permits, commercial site plans, and subdivision plats. The individual must be detail oriented and have strong project management skills. Prior plan review, zoning ordinance administration, and permitting experience is desired, but not required. The Planning Technician may also assist in maintaining the Planning Department’s GIS system.

The Deputy Director serves as an integral part of the management team of the Planning and Inspections Department. Reporting directly to the Planning and Inspections Director, this position assists in implementing the full work program of the department while directly managing and leading the work of the Building Inspections, Code Enforcement, and Central Permitting Divisions.

The Planner I assists with coverage in the Planning Department responding to public inquiries and customer service requests. Responsibilities include understanding, interpreting, and communicating with the public about the City of Graham Development Ordinance regulations. This position serves as the primary point of contact for New Business, Sign Permit Review, Zoning Verification Letters, as well as Façade and Business Beautification Grants. As staff liaison this individual provides administrative support to the Historic Resources Commission (HRC) as well as the Appearance Commission but may assist with drafting staff reports for the Planning Board and City Council on an as needed basis. This individual may also provide assistance to the Downtown Development Coordinator with the (DAC) program.
Duties include a wide variety of tasks related to current and long-range planning initiatives such as development regulation updates, land development application review, grant writing, and analysis regarding planning and development issues. Work is performed under the supervision of the Planning Director.

The purpose of the Planner I position is to assist the planning division in the enforcement of the City’s Zoning Ordinance.

In this position, you will perform advanced planning duties by reviewing complex land development applications and performing redevelopment and comprehensive urban planning functions for the Planning and Community Services Department.
