The Town of Wake Forest seeks an energetic and team oriented individual for the position of Senior Planner. Work requires independent judgment, the ability to develop solutions to problems and perform a high level of interpretation of ordinances, laws, etc. Work includes considerable public contact with contractors, engineers, developers, and the general public and involves giving information, answering inquiries, and carrying out the Town ordinances in the areas of zoning, planning, and other land use policies. Work includes managing or assisting in the management of implementation projects. Work includes providing support to a variety of boards, commissions and committees related to the area of assignment. Work requires the performance of technical support duties such as inspections and doing research work for any planning project for the Town. Heavy public contact is required in performing duties. Work is supervised by the Development Services Manager is evaluated through conferences, review of assigned projects, and overall completion of assigned tasks. Education and Experience: Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in planning, public administration, geography, landscaping, or related field with considerable professional planning experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. AICP certification required or must be obtained within one year of employment. Hours of work: Monday- Friday, 8:00am- 5:00pm. The Town offers an excellent benefits package.

Master’s degree in Regional and/or Urban Planning, Public Administration or related field and considerable progressively responsible local governmental or regional planning experience including supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license and access to a car on a regular basis that may be required in the performance of work. Hiring Range $62,107-76,894 DOQ.
