Associate Director of Research

The UNC Charlotte Urban Institute (Institute) is hiring an Associate Director of Research who will also serve as the Director of Community Research Services (Director). The Director will serve as the day-to-day manager of the Institute research team and will manage ongoing tasks that enable the Institute to provide research with/for the Charlotte, North Carolina region, including evaluation services, neighborhood and regional indicator work, and other engaged and applied research efforts. The Director will also lead and advise research projects related to their own substantive, methodological, and analytic expertise.

Celebrating our 50th anniversary, the Institute is the primary applied research and public service arm of UNC Charlotte. We work to meet our community’s research and technical support needs and we seek solutions to the social, economic, and environmental challenges faced by the communities that surround us. We serve the Charlotte region, which includes the largest city in the Carolinas and the 14 surrounding counties. We are located on the main UNC Charlotte campus with additional flexible office space at the university’s Center City campus, which is connected by light rail.
