Description

This position works directly with other professional planning staff to perform work in administering the Town’s Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). This highly skilled position requires the ability to apply the UDO to specific situations and provide accurate and well-organized analysis to customers, applicants and various Town boards including the Planning Board, Board of Zoning Adjustment, Historic District Commission, Appearance Commission and Town Council. The ideal applicant’s skill set will also include the ability to work independently to conduct research on a variety of topics, meet multiple overlapping deadlines and communicate effectively and clearly with parties representing diverse interests and motivations. Clear and professional written and verbal communication, including comfort with public speaking, is very important. A bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in planning or a related field, or a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in an unrelated field plus two or more years of professional experience in a related field is typically required, but an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience may be considered.
