ODOTs new Climate Office is seeking a collaborative, passionate, program manager to lead the agency’s sustainability work and support mitigation and adaptation activities. ODOT formed the Climate Office in recognition of the need to reduce transportation greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and help the agency adapt to the impacts of climate, such as sea level rise and more intense rainfalls. THE POSITION
The position is located within the Logistics Services Department, which oversees parking operational facilities and structures throughout Alameda County; administers various countywide programs, including the Clean Commute Program and Property and Salvage; and manages GSA’s vehicle fleet and inter-departmental mail services.

The Sustainability Project Manager (Sustainable Transportation Program) manages the Clean Commute Program for the County, which includes carpool matching and shuttle services. The Sustainability Project staff also advance green fleet projects, such as electric vehicle infrastructure and pilot projects, to test new clean fuel technology.

You will exercise discretion, judgement and knowledge of sound planning principles and practices in evaluating the salient facts and issues surrounding land use plans and activity.

Planner/Code Enforcement Officer Atlantic Beach, NC. Conducts technical, professional and administrative activities for the Town’s Planning, Zoning, and Inspections Department. Perform responsible technical inspections work enforcing the Unified Development Ordinance; intermediate professional work in the administration of local ordinances with respect to zoning, subdivision, stormwater and floodplain management. Assists with facilitating the Zoning Board of Adjustment and Planning Board meetings; and all other related development and land use programs for the Town and a variety of assignments; processes grant applications and does related work as required. Works under the direction of Planning and Development Director.

Graduation from accredited college with preferred degree in planning, geography, engineering, environmental technology or related field and some experience with GIS software. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Prefer 2-5 years of experience with certifications in Zoning and Floodplain Management. Knowledge of the North Carolina General Statutes and planning/development law required. Ability to communicate written/orally; establish and maintain effective working relationships with Town employees, elected and appointed officials, state and local agencies, and the general public.

Position Overview
Performs journey-level current and long range planning activities for the Planning and Development Services Department.

General Responsibilities
• Answers a variety of questions from developers, architects and the general public in obtaining information and coordinating planning matters.
• Researches, writes, recommends and administers ordinances related to current and long range planning and development issues such as zoning, subdivision regulations, appearance, floodplain, signage, minimum housing, historic district, and other growth and development issues.
• Reviews projects for compliance with ordinances; reviews site and subdivision plats and resolves any problems/deficiencies found during the review process.

This class is the third level in a five-level Planning Series devoted to paraprofessional and professional support of municipal planning for a variety of operations and functions including strategic planning, comprehensive planning, land use, community development, departmental capital projects and operational planning. Incumbents provide advanced journey level professional planning work and are considered subject matter experts with the highest level of knowledge, providing consultation to other planning staff and to management. As assigned, incumbents may serve as lead workers, assigning work and monitoring work completion or may supervise paraprofessional and/or support staff including conducting performance evaluations, coordinating training, and implementing hiring, discipline and termination procedures.

The Central Transportation Planning Staff (CTPS) of the Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is seeking an experienced and innovative transportation professional to lead its Transit Analysis and Planning group.

The Manager of the Transit Analysis and Planning group leads a team that provides technical expertise to the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), regional transit authorities (RTAs), and other organizations in the Boston region. This group is responsible for transit data collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation; transit planning for the MBTA, RTAs, municipalities, and other entities in the Boston region; technical analyses that support policy decisions for the MBTA and RTAs, such as the evaluation of the impacts of service and fare changes on revenue, ridership, and equity; Title VI analyses; and general Title VI support to the MBTA and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. In addition to managing a core staff of five-to-six full-time professional transit planners, the Manager of the Transit Analysis and Planning group oversees the manager of approximately 12 part-time data-collection field staff and, for special survey efforts, as many as 50 temporary field staff. The Manager of the Transit Analysis and Planning group reports to the Director of Policy and Planning at CTPS.

This position will coordinate the transportation planning processes for the Peanut Belt Rural Planning Organization (RPO) for the Counties of Halifax, Bertie, Herford and Northampton; serve as staff to the RPO Rural Technical Coordinating Committee (TCC) and to the RPO Rural transportation Advisory Committee (TAC). Assist in the rural transportation planning activities of the Peanut Belt RPO; apply knowledge of transportation concepts, regional planning organizations and impact studies to provide staff support to advisory boards and elected officials. Provide GIS assistance for transportation, environmental and other planning projects as needed. Conduct specialized research; perform special studies such as traffic counts, corridor studies, crash analysis, bicycle and pedestrian facility inventory and assessments or socioeconomic, demographic and land use inventories. The Town of Dallas, NC is currently seeking applicants for the full-time position of Development Services Director. Dallas, a community of approximately 5,000 residents located 20 miles west of Charlotte, is known as the “Crossroads of Gaston County”. Its prime location conveniently situated near the intersection of I-85 and US-321 has sparked an increase in development interest in the past few years – a trend that is expected to continue.
