King County Metro Transit is currently hiring one undergraduate or graduate student intern or veteran fellow to work within Metro’s Mobility Services Rideshare and Flexible services team. This team runs the largest, longest-running public commuter van program in the nation, recently celebrating its 40th VANniversary. The team works to plan, pilot, implement, operate and promote multiple commute and community-centered flexible and shared transit alternatives as well as commute trip reduction efforts. Their work helps fill transportation gaps and connects people to work, school, home, recreation, services and their community.

Ideal start time for interns or fellows is May 2020. The position is expected to work full time hours over the summer and part time hours during until December 31, 2020. Metro is open to interns or fellows starting before or after May if schedules align for the intern or fellow and program. Interested full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate students and qualified veterans are encouraged to apply.

Applicants of the DDETFP GRF must: Possess a baccalaureate degree from an accredited IHE within the United States or its Territories; Demonstrate confirmation of acceptance in a graduate degree program at an accredited IHE in the United States or its Territories; Be enrolled in an accredited IHE within the United States or its Territories; Be pursuing a graduate degree in a full-time program in a transportation-related discipline identified in the assignment announcement; Have at least1 full academic year remaining in program of study; Conduct ongoing research in one or more transportation-related disciplines; and Plan to enter the transportation profession after completing their higher-level education.

The DDETFP provides funding for students to pursue master’s or doctoral degrees in transportation-related disciplines.
