Incumbents with the MPO work with the general public, private sector, and regional agencies, as well as local, state and federal governments in delivering a multi-modal transportation system, provide advanced model development and application projects for the short-range and long-rang transportation system studies and plans. The City of Raleigh, North Carolina is searching for a dedicated and experienced historic preservation planner in the Historic Preservation Unit of the Raleigh Urban Design Center (UDC), a division of the Department of City Planning.

Applicants must have specialized knowledge in the historic preservation program area.

The Long Range Principal Planner will represent the City of Alexandria on a wide range of technical, non-technical and policy issues that will require broad vision and communications, transportation, and operational expertise. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing long-range planning activities, developing city-wide policies that support development of Alexandria’s multi-modal goals, and supporting and advancing the department’s goals and requirements. The Southwest Area Manager position manages SF Park Alliance Partners (fiscally-sponsored groups) and performs ongoing programmatic work for the area of the city located south of Golden Gate Park and west of Highway 101. It includes San Francisco’s most iconic neighborhoods (Mission, Castro, Noe Valley, Sunset, Ingleside, Portola, Bernal Heights) and landmarks, such as Sutro Forest, John McLaren Park, and Lake Merced. ​​The position involves collaborating with existing SF Parks Alliance Partners, community/neighborhood groups, City departments, real estate developers, funders and other stakeholders to advance public space projects and activities that reflect broader community needs, goals and aspirations.

This is a mid-level project management position responsible for leading planning teams, managing planning and regulatory processes and projects. The Principal Planner will be developing & analyzing underlying quantitative data in support of the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization (Metropolitan Planning Organization or MPO for the Charlotte urbanized area).

This position will bridge the gap between CRTPO and transit agencies in the region, ensuring a closer connection on transit topics. Participation in the preparation, amendment, and modification of the Metropolitan Transportation Plan, Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), performance-based planning initiatives and other plans and programs are essential to the mission of an MPO.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the metropolitan planning process. This position may require occasional in-state travel and off-hours work scheduled during nights and weekends.
