$1,500 for the 2019-20 School Calendar Year (the award will be distributed in two amounts of $750 each at the end of each semester of the 2019-2020 school year). It is the responsibility of the Fellowship recipient to maintain the course of study identified in their application and achieve a GPA of B or greater in both the semesters that the fellowship amounts are awarded. The recipient will also be required to summarize his or her project for publication in the ENRE Division’s newsletter. Additionally, the recipient will be encouraged to present his or her project at the ENRE Business Meeting during the APA National Planning Conference the following year (NPC 2021).

Performs planning projects and policy development. Position serves as project manager for development and land use applications. It requires the application of well-developed analytical skills in urban design, land use, code enforcement, and other subjects related to planning. Requires attendance at public meetings and hearings and work is performed under the supervision of the Planning Director.

The City of Durham Community Development Department is seeking a graduate-level candidate who will help to further the City’s goal of reducing experiences of homelessness in Durham. The Intern will collaborate with city staff to improve implementation of interventions for homeless individuals and to analyze needs for Durham’s homeless population. The work conducted will inform future policy, program, and funding priorities regarding interventions to address homelessness in Durham.

The Policy and Urban Design Division is seeking a motivated and organized self-starter to fill the role of Planning Intern. Self-Help has an exciting opportunity for an entrepreneurial Real Estate Development professional to build out this line of business that has just recently started for Self-Help in California. The Director of CA Real Estate Development will help envision and lead our community-based real estate development work in the state. Building capacity to expand community-based real estate development activity, in close coordination with our well-established branch network serving generally underserved populations in the state, is a strategic priority for Self-Help. The successful candidate will build and manage a small group of project management staff to identify, analyze, and execute real estate development projects. Projects may be in partnership/collaboration with Self-Help Federal Credit Union (SHFCU) branch development efforts (two currently underway.)
