Description

The Project Planner will support the implementation of a variety of real estate projects and community infrastructure programs along with ongoing planning research and design review efforts of the Cambridge Redevelopment Authority (CRA). The Project Planner will work collaboratively as part of the CRA’s Planning and Development team, supporting the CRA’s research, analysis, project design, and community engagement efforts related to its redevelopment programs. While there is no typical day, examples of the kinds of activities the Project Planner will support include:

This role requires attendance at some evening meetings. It is a full-time position with a 37.5-hour work week. The CRA operates within a permanent hybrid office and remote work structure where at least three days per week are spent in the office.

The Shared‐Use Mobility Center (SUMC) is a non‐profit public interest organization promoting multi‐modal transportation systems that work for all. SUMC is looking for a Partnerships & Engagement Intern. SUMC is expanding to serve a growing ecosystem of public agencies, mobility companies, community organizations, and tribes interested in collaborating towards mobility equity and climate goals. Position Overview:
The Partnerships & Engagement (P&E) Intern is a temporary position supporting our communications and event planning efforts. SUMC interns are responsible for a wide range of duties in a thoughtful, creative, fast‐paced atmosphere. The position requires basic knowledge of design platforms; social media applications; event administration and event logistics; and strong organizational and writing skills.

Responsibilities:
Intern responsibilities may include tasks around events, communications, external relations, and partnerships, such as:

  • Events: Planning and logistics for SUMC events such as the 2023 National Shared Mobility Summit and smaller open houses, webinars, and other gatherings.
  • Communications: Preparing internal and external communications about shared mobility, sustainability and equity. These may include but are not limited to: articles and blog posts, news gathering, assisting with communication design, production and other visual needs, and social media writing;
  • External Relations: Writing press releases and assisting with public relations research and outreach;
  • Partnership Programs: Developing research on the needs and interests of leaders in the shared mobility industry.

In all of these areas, the students will gain applicable experience and expertise they can add to their portfolio, as well experience working with teams in a digital/virtual environment and on a national level.

Qualifications:
Graduate students or B.A. in Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, Public Policy, Urban Planning, English, Business, or related programs.

The intern should be a flexible team player who is adept at research and writing and knowledgeable about transportation.

Position Description
The Walk & Bike Program (WBP) Manager/Coordinator position will have shared responsibility for the ongoing development, management, administration and evaluation of Health by Design’s walking, biking, transit, and land use initiatives.

The WBP Manager/Coordinator will work primarily within the City of Indianapolis-Marion County, with a focus on equity, safety, access, and connectivity. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Safe Routes to School and daily destinations, Parks, and Transit activities; implementation of the pedestrian master plan; first-mile, last-mile connections to transit; Complete Streets implementation; Americans with Disabilities Act planning, compliance, and implementation; pedestrian and bicycle crash analysis
and interventions; sustainability and resiliency planning; and community outreach, engagement, and education activities.

This position will work with coalition partners and stakeholders in Indianapolis/Marion County and, at times, communities throughout the state of Indiana.

This position will guide management and implementation of Health by Design’s recently awarded grant through the Indiana Department of Health, Indiana Health Issues and Challenges Grant Program. This position may also have shared responsibility for the ongoing development, management, administration, and evaluation of Health by Design’s broader active transportation and safety initiatives locally and or statewide.

This position will work with coalition partners and stakeholders at the state level and in select communities throughout the state of Indiana. It will require in-state travel and, at times, out of state travel may be necessary for training opportunities. Some evening and weekend hours will be necessary. Compensation will be $55,000 – 65,000 annually, depending on education and experience. The organization offers excellent benefits including insurance, dental, paid personal time off and holidays. This position relies on long-term funding through grants and contracts.

Education & Experience
A bachelor’s degree is preferred, along with at least five years of related work and/or volunteer experience; a master’s degree may be substituted for two years of experience. A high school diploma and seven years related work and/or volunteer experience in the areas below may also be substituted. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and experience in one or more disciplines related to the broad definition of health and/or the built environment (e.g. public health, transportation, housing, planning/design/engineering, community economic development, public policy/affairs/ administration, social work, etc.). Experience working with and managing grants, preparing project reports, and working with public agencies would be helpful.

Position Duties

Position Description

The intern will support CMAP’s technical assistance and capacity building programs, which provide assistance to communities across the Chicago metropolitan region to develop local land use and transportation plans and assist in the implementation of those plans. The intern will be expected to support projects by performing geographic information system (GIS) analysis, researching, and writing about assigned topics, and participating in community engagement efforts. Project assignments will be determined based on program needs and the intern’s interests and skill sets. However, the intern should have a strong understanding of transportation and land use planning topics.

Essential Functions

The intern’s primary responsibilities will include a combination of the following:

Research and writing. The intern will assist project teams by conducting research and contributing to written products. This may include assisting in the development of existing conditions reports by reviewing and providing written summaries of past plans and ordinances. It may also include researching plans, programs, and policies of other planning entities and organizations, and surveying best practices in relevant topic areas. The intern should be able to convey research findings in a clear and concise manner.
Data analysis and mapping. The intern will help with regional and community-focused data collection, analysis, and mapping. This will include gathering data via the Census or other datasets related to issues of particular importance to communities or ON TO 2050 implementation. Familiarity with data sources, ability to analyze data, and ability to communicate the results of this analysis are necessary skills. The intern will also prepare maps to appear in interim and final documents related to projects.
Outreach. Projects involve staffing many public meetings. The intern will assist with various elements of public engagement including table facilitation, registration, and note-taking.
Future Leaders in Planning (FLIP): The intern will assist with CMAP’s FLIP program, a free leadership development program for high school students. The intern will help CMAP staff administer the program and facilitate interactions with regional leaders.

Knowledge, Skills, and Interests

General knowledge of, and interest in, urban and/or regional planning issues and practice such as transportation, land use, environmental, and social considerations in planning.
GIS concepts and functions, familiarity with ArcGIS, and experience working with large regional datasets.
Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and SketchUp
Microsoft Office

Job Description Summary

Enterprise Community Partners, Southeast Market, seeks a program and research intern for to support our policy and programmatic efforts. This position is available in our Atlanta office and will have the opportunity to learn about the affordable housing field through a variety of projects. In addition, there is significant opportunity to attend virtual events and meetings and network with other affordable housing professionals.
Job Description

Responsibilities:

State & Local Policy

Attend virtual or in-person legislative meetings for Atlanta City Council and other applicable meetings of state and local governments, as necessary, and provide a summary of housing related content to the Southeast team;

Provide research and analysis on relevant polices, as requested;

Participate in the advocacy strategy to implement a dedicated revenue source for housing in Georgia;

Assist with coordinating coalition meetings with policy partners; and

Additional assistance with internal programs for the Southeast team, as requested.

Preservation

Support the development and launch of the Southeast Preservation Next Academy through content development, outreach support, and training delivery support.

Support the Preservation Next capital product pilot through owner outreach, project review, and research

Support Metro Atlanta Preservation Strategy development through meeting participation and support, presentation development, and best practice research.

Faith Based Development Initiative (FBDI)

Research and Case Making – Around the Context and Need

Assist with continuing to define the scale and urgency of the affordable housing problem that houses of worship can play a role in helping to solve in our targeted area.

Develop Case Studies/Presentations that can be utilized to inform and garner additional funding support for the FBDI. The case studies should lay out clearly the issues, opportunities and roadmap for successful interventions through the FBDI.

Technical Assistance Cohort and Webinars Planning

Assist with FBDI Intake Form process that is used to generate leads and prioritize outreach.

Assist with conducting and collecting organizational assessments completed by houses of worship to strengthen their ability to seek funding and Enterprise’s ability to assist them.

With staff, help coordinate and implement the FBDI Technical Assistance Cohorts (Atlanta and South Florida) including the FBDI Webinar Series, in order to educate and provide TA to houses of worship.

Qualifications:

An undergraduate degree is preferred.

This is an entry level opportunity; however, candidates should have some research and analysis experience through coursework or related work. A 1-3 page writing same is requested.

Interest in local housing policy and advocacy;

Strong research, writing and presentation skills;

Self-motivated, with the ability to work both independently and as a team player; and

Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
