EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee’s official position description. In this position, you will serve as a Hazard mitigation Community Planner with FEMA’s Region 3 Office. Typical assignments include:

  • Coordinating and providing technical assistance to state and local officials as applicable on the preparation, revision, or updating of hazard mitigation plans to comply with federal requirement, regulation, policies, and guidance.
  • Providing written recommendations for plan improvements
  • Tracking assigned plans through all elements of the review process, including data entry and drafting of review and approval letters.
  • Coordinating with regional hazard mitigation planning team and supporting other mitigation activities as required.
  • Developing and delivering planning related training to state. local and tribal audiences, conferences and other outreach opportunities.

Program Manager Position Description:

The Advisory Board of TriangleTrails is seeking to hire an energetic and experienced Program Manager to work with the Board, regional and local governments and private sector interests to market and promote a regional greenway trails system throughout the 15 county Research Triangle region of North Carolina. The Program Manager (PM) will be responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan of the initiative. Other key duties include assisting with fundraising, marketing, and community outreach. The position reports to the Chair of the TTI Advisory Board. As the fiscal sponsor, The East Coast Greenway Alliance provides administrative, human resources, and financial oversight of TriangleTrails.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Working with county and municipal leaders and staff to promote greenways, blueways and trails, provide technical assistance, suggest and support programing, organizing and assisting with planning and implementing of regional seminars to support our work and share information and to be visible within the community promoting TTI, greenways and trails, active transportation and healthy lifestyles.
  2. Work with elected officials at the county and municipal levels to promote and advocate for developing and connecting greenways and trails within their communities and to support and provide educational assistance in how to fund such initiatives.
  3. Planning, operation and execution of annual work program and budget.
  4. Serving as TriangleTrails primary spokesperson to the organization’s constituents, the media and the general public.
  5. Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations throughout the state and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance TriangleTrails Mission.
  6. Report to and work closely with the Advisory Board to seek their involvement in policy decisions, fundraising and to increase the overall visibility of TriangleTrails throughout the State and nation.
  7. Assist with Strategic planning and implementation.
  8. Assist with operation of the Advisory Board and committees.
  9. Oversee marketing and other communications efforts.
  10. Review contracts for services.

Detailed Responsibilities:

  1. Advisory Board Governance: The PM works with the TTI Advisory Board in order to meet the objectives of the initiatives vision and mission.
    1. Responsible for leading TriangleTrails in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s vision and mission as defined by the Advisory Board.
    2. Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
  2. Financial Performance and Viability: Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the TriangleTrails.
    1. Responsible for supporting fundraising efforts led by the Advisory Board.
    2. Responsible for the fiscal integrity of TriangleTrails to include submission to the Advisory Board of a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.
    3. Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.
  3. Organization Mission and Strategy: Works with board to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach.
    1. Work with statewide associations to promote greenways and trails
    2. Responsible for implementation of TriangleTrails programs that carry out the organization’s mission.
    3. Responsible for executing on a strategic plan to ensure that TriangleTrails can successfully fulfill its Mission into the future.
    4. Responsible for the enhancement of TriangleTrails image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic and private organizations.

Professional Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in advocacy, planning and/or coordinating nonprofit programs.
